Inez Schottenbauer age 92 of Wabasso, while surrounded by her family, left us to join our Heavenly Father on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. at the church in Wabasso.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday.  Interment is in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery.  The Redwood Valley Funeral Home of Redwood Falls is handling the arrangements.

Inez was born July 3, 1917 at her family’s home in Wabasso, MN to Edward & Kathryn (Zeren) Weldon.  She received the sacraments at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso, where she was a lifetime member.  Inez attended St. Anne’s Catholic School before graduating from Wabasso public school.  She was united in marriage to Bernard Schottenbauer at St. Anne’s.  Together the couple lived and farmed between Clements and Sanborn.  They moved to Walnut Grove for a short time where Bernard operated the Walnut Grove Hardware Store.  They then moved to Wabasso where Inez lived until she relocated to Hopkins, MN four years ago to be near her family.  Inez worked as a bookkeeper for the farm bureau through several changes of ownership.  She retired from there when it was Kerr McGee.  Inez was a very active member in her church where she served on the Christian Mothers.  She was also a proud member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Wabasso. Inez loved to crochet, making afghans for all her grandchildren.  She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards.  Years ago, she also enjoyed square dancing.  Inez looked forward to spending summer vacations with her grandchildren, especially going to the Redwood County Fair, the Pipestone Hiawatha Pageant, and the Little House on the Prairie Pageant in Walnut Grove.  Inez approached life with her own gentle strength and was always there to support her family.  Her faith was a light-post, there as a guide to those who loved her.

Inez will be missed dearly and loved always by her family including; son Tom and wife Mary Schottenbauer of St. Louis Park; grandchildren: Christine (Tom) Oberg, John (Kristi) Schottenbauer, David (Julie) Schottenbauer, Anne Schottenbauer, Amanda (Jared) Mason; great grandchildren: Michael, Eric and Ryan Oberg, Noah, Molly Rose and Luke Schottenbauer, & Grace and Isabel Schottenbauer; and many nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard, and brothers Baby Weldon and Oliver Weldon.
