Raymond Jordan
Raymond “Ray” Jordan, age 81, of Vesta passed away
on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July
12 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will continue

Raymond W. Jordan was born December 22, 1927 in Vesta, Minnesota
to August and Elsie (Kletscher) Jordan. He attended country school
near Vesta and later began farming with his family. He entered the
U.S. Marine Corps on October 17, 1951 and was honorably discharged
on October 16, 1953. He was a Corporal and served in the Korean
War where he received a Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal,
and National Defense Service Medal. Upon his discharge he returned
to the Vesta area where he operated a dairy farm. Raymond was united
in marriage to Carole Knofczynski on May 28, 1966 at St. John Catius
Church in Wilno. The couple continued farming and moved to Vesta
in 1997 where he has resided since. Ray was a member of the Vesta
American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and his pets.
Ray is survived by his wife Carole of 43 years; nephew Jay; niece
Jennifer; sisters: Ruth (Merle) Peterson of Burwell, NE; half-sister
Bonnie (Bob) McLeod of Aurora, CO; and other nieces, nephews, relatives,
and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and niece Amy.
