Mildred W. (Dittbenner) Jensen was born October 30, 1910 in Granite

and Henry Dittbenner. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran
faith. She attended elementary school in Lucan and graduated from
Milroy High School in 1925. After attending Minneapolis Business
College, she worked for two years as secretary to County Attorney
Leon Brown in Redwood Falls. She then enrolled at St. Cloud State
University and obtained her teaching degree. On July 27, 1937, she
was united in marriage to Milan Jensen at the Lutheran Parsonage
in Lamberton. Following their marriage, they made their home in
Lucan. Before starting to teach in Milroy, Milly taught in Lucan
for six years. She taught in Milroy for seven years, retiring in
1967. Many of her students remember her fondly as their “favorite
teacher”. She was an active member of Lucan Trinity Lutheran
Church where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Junior
Mission, and was advisor for the Luther League. She had been secretary
of the WELCA and also secretary and treasurer of Trinity Lutheran.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lucan Historical
Society, Redwood County Senior Citizen Advisory Board, Western Regional
Mental Health Advisory Council and also served as a lay-board member
of the Redwood County Human Services Board for twelve years. She
was an active volunteer with all areas of the Senior Citizens and
was chosen as the Redwood County Outstanding Citizen in 1996. Milly
was a loving person who always had a smile and a hug for everyone.
While living in Lucan, she spent many hours visiting the home-bound
and sharing her roses, treats, and friendship. Her faith, family,
and friends brought her much happiness.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Judy, of Pennock, MN; three
grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: Brent Jensen (Darcy),
and their daughters Tori and Chloe of St. Michael, MN; Lori Jensen-Lea
(Chad), and their sons Jared, Logan, and Zachary of Chaska, MN;
