Grace L. Breitkreutz age 87 of Redwood Falls, died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Danube. Visitation will be held 4-7pm on Monday with a 6:30pm prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery, Renville, MN. The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Grace L. Breitkreutz was born June 21, 1921 in Delhi Township, Redwood County to Frank G. and Emma (Draeger) Gaffney. When she was 2 ½ years old, the family moved to a farm in Flora Township, Renville County. She attended country school District 8, known as the Middle Creek School in Flora Township. She worked on the family farm and did housework for neighbors. She was baptized and confirmed in the Middle Creek Evangelical Church. She married Clarence Breitkreutz on January 5, 1941 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Renville, Minnesota, and with her husband joined St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Flora Township. After their marriage they moved to a farm in Flora Township where they lived for almost 64 years. They then moved to Redwood Falls in August 2004. She was a member of Ladies’ Aid, taught Sunday School for many years, was a long time member of the Home Extension Group and a charter member of the “Organization Wisconsin Lutheran Seniors (OWLS).” She enjoyed crafts, quilting, and making doll houses and doll furniture.

She is survived by her five children: Larry (Ramona) of rural Renville, Richard (Ida) of St. Cloud, Howard (Susan) of Alexandria, Tom (Lois) of rural Renville, Janice Potter of Redwood Falls; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren – 2 on the way; one sister Ruth King of Redwood Falls; two brothers: Ralph (Maurine) Gaffney of Annandale and Howard (Lorraine) Gaffney of rural Renville. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence after 66 years of marriage, 3 infant daughters: Carolyn, Sharon, and Janet; one grandson Darence (DJ) Potter; one brother Rolland; two sisters Marian in infancy and Margaret Welch. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Redwood Area Hospice or American Cancer Society.
